SEMH Learning Mentor - Gloucester

Location: Gloucester (GL2)
Pay: £92 - £105 per day
Hours: Full-time (Monday - Friday), Term Time Only

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Gloucester, supporting children and young people who require additional emotional, behavioural and educational support to achieve their full potential.

We are seeking compassionate, resilient and dedicated Learning Mentors to join the team. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed both in and out of the classroom.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant / Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in both classroom and pastoral settings.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using a therapeutic approach.
  • Encourage engagement with learning and personal development.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals.
  • Support students on educational activities and community-based learning opportunities.

About You

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults (formal or informal).
  • Are patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • SEMH, SEND or alternative provision settings.
  • Youth work, mentoring or sports coaching.
  • Residential care or support work.
  • Behaviour support or intervention roles.
  • Mental health support services.

Driving Requirement

Due to the role involving travel between two school locations in Gloucester, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred.
