SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only

 

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in both classroom and vocational settings
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Help manage behaviours positively using a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Promote a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Support students with their social, emotional, and academic development

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
  • Is calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Can build positive relationships and act as a consistent, supportive adult
  • Holds (or is willing to work towards) a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
