SEMH Teaching Assistant (Supply) – Primary & Secondary Opportunities

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel are recruiting dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants for supply positions across Primary and Secondary schools in Darlington, starting in September.
We currently have two opportunities available, with placements in either a Primary or Secondary setting, supporting pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and learning support to help them thrive in education.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Help manage challenging behaviour using a calm and consistent approach.
- Support pupils to engage with learning and achieve their individual targets.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to create a positive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs or additional learning needs.
- Are patient, resilient and adaptable.
- Can build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Have a background in education, youth work, care, support work, sports coaching or similar fields (desirable but not essential).
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
