SEMH Teaching Assistant – Blythe Bridge – Immediate Start
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience—practical or theoretical—in working with challenging behaviour or supporting those with SEN?
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist school in Blythe Bridge, and we're currently recruiting for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team as soon as possible.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in psychology, education, youth work, or mental health—whether gained through university studies or hands-on experience in schools, care settings, or other relevant environments.
The Role:
You’ll be working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 who present with a range of SEMH needs, including ADHD, autism (ASD), and behaviours that challenge. Your role will involve:

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis to help them access learning
-
Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and self-esteem
-
Implementing tailored behaviour and support strategies
-
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
-
Contributing to the setting and review of individual targets
-
Monitoring and supporting social, emotional, and mental health needs
-
Assisting with personal care where necessary (training will be provided)
What We’re Looking For:
-
Prior experience working with children or young people with additional needs, either practically or academically
-
A calm, resilient, and compassionate approach to behaviour support
-
A background in psychology, youth work, mental health, or education (desirable)
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
