SEMH Teacher – Secondary

Full-Time | Start Date: September 2026
Location: Reading

We are seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a secondary school in the Reading area from September 2026. This is a full-time position ideal for an educator who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

You will be responsible for teaching and supporting secondary-aged students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning. The role focuses on creating a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where students can re-engage with education and make positive progress both academically and personally.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons suited to SEMH learners
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an educator who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has previous experience working with SEMH students, ideally within a secondary setting
  • Demonstrates a calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approach
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
