We are looking for a passionate and adaptable SEMH Teacher to take on term cover for a local secondary school in Guisborough from September through to the end of the autumn term in December. Whether you're an experienced teacher seeking flexibility through Teaching Personnel or an ECT beginning your career, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your classroom experience across a variety of school settings.
You will be responsible for teaching and supporting secondary-aged students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning. The role focuses on creating a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where students can re-engage with education and make positive progress both academically and personally.
The Role
- Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons suited to SEMH learners across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 opportunities may be available)
- Supporting students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
- Follow lesson plans and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt quickly to different school settings
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and promote a positive learning environment
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Mark work where required and provide feedback
Who We’re Looking For
- Qualified SEMH teacher (QTS or working towards)
- ECTs/NQTs are very welcome
- Has previous experience working with SEMH students, ideally within a secondary setting
- Confident classroom presence and strong subject knowledge
- Reliable, flexible, and professional
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- An up to date DBS or the willingness to get one
- Satisfactory background screening

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
