SEMH Support Specialist (St Albans)

Teaching Personnel is looking to appoint a confident, positive Behavior Support Specialist to work with vulnerable young people (ages 11–16) across our SEN-based provisions in the St Albans area.
The Essentials
- Schedule: Full-time (Mon–Fri, 08:30 – 15:30) – Term Time Only!
- Setting: Specialized SEN Provision (KS3 & KS4)
- Location: St Albans & surrounding areas
The Role: How You’ll Make a Difference
You won't just be "observing"—you will be an active part of these students' success stories:
- Emotional Support: Work 1:1 or in small groups to promote positive social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes.
- Re-integration: Provide the bridge for pupils to successfully re-enter mainstream education.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and record achievements, celebrating every win—no matter how small.
- Safe Environment: Use positive handling strategies (such as Team Teach) to manage pupils effectively and safely.
- Community Link: Liaise with parents and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student progress.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience working with SEND children or youth at risk.
- Skills: Ideally Team Teach trained (or willing to undergo training).
- Compliance: Must have (or be willing to apply for) a Child Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Eligibility: UK residency/Right to Work in the UK .
- Background: Overseas criminal clearance where applicable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
