SEMH Learning Support Assistant – Liverpool (L8 & L25)

Teaching Personnel Liverpool are currently seeking dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning Support Assistants to support a number of specialist provisions across the Liverpool area, including L8 and L25.

We are working in partnership with several SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools who require full-time support staff to join their teams on a temporary to permanent basis.

About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working closely with KS3 and KS4 pupils who present with a range of additional needs, including SEMH and challenging behaviour. You will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to engage with their learning and develop positive behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour effectively
  • Building strong, positive relationships with students
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (preferred)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
