Location: Stoke-on-Trent (ST11)
Role: SEMH Teacher – Maths Specialist
Contract: Full-time
Daily Rate: £150 – £220 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Are you a dedicated Maths Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the confidence, resilience and behaviour management skills to engage students who may have experienced barriers to education?

We are working with a specialist SEMH school in the ST3 area of Stoke-on-Trent that is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Maths Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will be a subject specialist who can deliver high-quality Maths lessons while creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

This role is ideal for a teacher who understands that positive relationships and consistent boundaries are key to helping young people re-engage with education.

The Role

As an SEMH Maths Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Support students with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive classroom environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and engagement.
  • Adapt lessons to meet different learning styles and abilities.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff and the wider school team.
  • Monitor pupil progress and support personal, social and academic development.
  • Promote resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.

We Are Looking For:

  • A qualified Maths Teacher (QTS/QTLS desirable) or an experienced Maths specialist.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A nurturing, patient and consistent approach.
  • Someone who believes every young person can achieve with the right support.
  • A teacher who can inspire students who may have previously disengaged from education.

Daily Rate: £150–£220 per day depending on experience, qualifications and suitability for the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
