SEMH Behaviour Mentor – Tameside PRU
Full-Time | September Start | Term-Time Only

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Tameside from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with secondary-aged pupils who have experienced barriers to education and require additional emotional, behavioural and pastoral support to help them succeed.

The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support students in managing their behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to improve engagement and confidence.
- Encourage positive choices and resilience both inside and outside the classroom.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support strategies.
- Promote a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs.
- Has a calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Can confidently build professional relationships with pupils who may struggle to trust adults.
- Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to reach their potential.
- Has experience in education, youth work, residential care, coaching, mentoring, support work or similar roles (desirable but not essential).

When applying through Teaching Personnel, an enhanced DBS on the update service is a required document. If you do not have one already, you will be asked to apply for one through Teaching Personnel before you are able to start in a position.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
