1:1 Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) - Billinge

Full-Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start Available

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil in the Billinge area who has been unable to access mainstream education due to a range of additional needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and challenging behaviour.

This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to help the pupil re-engage with learning, develop social and emotional skills, and achieve positive outcomes within a supportive educational environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Build a positive, trusting, and consistent relationship with the student.
  • Support the pupil's academic progress through personalised learning activities.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Help the student develop emotional regulation, communication, and social skills.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to support the student's individual needs.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback on academic and behavioural development.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or behavioural needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
  • Relevant education, care, youth work, support work, or coaching experience is highly desirable.
