Secondary Teaching Assistant

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking motivated and dependable Secondary Teaching Assistants to support a range of secondary/secondary SEN schools. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and want to help students succeed in a supportive classroom environment.

Working alongside teachers and school staff, you will provide classroom support across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students stay engaged with their learning and develop confidence in their studies.

Main Duties

• Provide in-class support to teachers during lessons.

• Assist students with classwork, ensuring they understand tasks and remain engaged.

• Work with small groups or individual students who may need additional guidance.

• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where required.

• Help maintain a focused and positive learning environment.

• Assist with preparing learning materials and classroom resources.

• Encourage students’ confidence, independence, and participation in lessons.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience working with young people (in schools, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth work).

• A calm, supportive, and professional approach when working with students.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to adapt to different school environments and classroom needs.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or similar.

• Experience supporting secondary school students.

• Knowledge of the UK secondary curriculum.
