Job description
Teaching Personnel Liverpool is currently recruiting multiple fully qualified Secondary English Teachers for a number of partner secondary schools across North Liverpool ahead of the September 2026 academic year.
Due to increasing demand from our schools, we are seeking passionate and committed English specialists who can deliver engaging lessons and raise attainment across Key Stages 3 and 4. Opportunities are available in a variety of school settings, including large academies, faith schools and community secondary schools.
This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to secure a long-term or permanent role within a supportive and forward-thinking department.
About the Role
Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language and Literature lessons that inspire students and promote a love of reading, writing and critical thinking.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Teaching both English Language and English Literature.
- Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
- Assessing, monitoring and tracking pupil progress.
- Providing effective feedback to support achievement and attainment.
- Preparing students for GCSE examinations.
- Working collaboratively with department colleagues and senior leaders.
- Promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance and academic excellence.
- Contributing positively to whole-school life and extracurricular activities.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered, applicants must have:
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, SCITT, Schools Direct or equivalent).
- Recent experience teaching English within a UK secondary school.
- Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- A passion for improving outcomes for young people.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable
- Experience teaching GCSE examination classes.
- A proven record of raising attainment.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and EAL needs.
- Experience teaching Key Stage 5 English.
- Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities such as creative writing clubs, reading interventions or school productions.
