Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced School Administration Assistant to join a specialist education setting in the Chippenham area.

This full-time opportunity is available from September 2026, with the possibility of an earlier start for the successful candidate.

We're seeking a highly organised and professional individual who has previous experience working within a busy school office and is ready to hit the ground running.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school, supporting staff, pupils, parents and visitors while maintaining the highest standards of administration.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a School Administration Assistant, you'll provide essential support across the school's daily operations while ensuring accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Acting as the first point of contact for parents, carers, visitors and external professionals.
  • Managing incoming telephone calls, emails and enquiries efficiently.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil records and updating school databases.
  • Producing letters, reports, meeting minutes and general correspondence.
  • Supporting attendance monitoring and recording information accurately.
  • Assisting with admissions, enrolment documentation and pupil files.
  • Ordering resources and maintaining office supplies.
  • Scheduling meetings and managing calendars for members of staff.
  • Supporting safeguarding procedures by handling confidential information appropriately.
  • Providing administrative assistance to the wider leadership and teaching teams as required.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working within a school or educational administration role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong IT knowledge, including Microsoft Office and school management systems where applicable.
  • Confidence prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A welcoming, approachable and positive attitude.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • Experience that enables you to hit the ground running from your first day.
