Are you an experienced and passionate Early Years Teaching Assistant looking for a full time Reception role in a lovely Bedminster school?
We are working with a warm, welcoming primary school in Bedminster that is seeking a Reception Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time basis. You will be working alongside the EYFS lead and class teachers, supporting the delivery of engaging, play-based learning. The class has children with SEN needs, and some days you will be providing 1:1 support for a non-verbal child, including sessions in the sensory room. The school has a supportive, inclusive atmosphere and values its staff highly.
The Role
- Support the Reception class alongside the EYFS lead and class teachers
- Provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal child, including working in the sensory room
- Help deliver engaging, play-based and child-centred learning in line with the EYFS framework
- Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment that supports progress for all learners, including those with SEN
- Assist with observations and informal assessments to feed back to the class teacher
- Support effective routines and behaviour strategies to maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment
- Work closely with teaching staff to maximise learning, wellbeing and independence for all pupils
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers and communicate as required by the school
- Contribute to the wider life and ethos of this friendly, community-focused school
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working in Early Years or Reception settings
- Experience or interest in supporting children with SEN, particularly non-verbal children
- Secure understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
- Confident in supporting classroom routines and behaviour management
- Warm, nurturing approach with clear, positive communication skills
- A collaborative, flexible team player who enjoys working alongside teachers and support staff
