About the Role

A forward-thinking and well-resourced secondary school in Brent is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Design & Technology Teacher to join its successful DT department. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented teacher who is passionate about design, creativity, and practical learning.

The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach KS5 depending on experience and specialism. Applications are welcomed from teachers with a background in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, or Food Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical DT lessons that inspire creativity and innovation.
  • Teach students the principles of design, manufacturing, problem-solving, and product development.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, ensuring all learners achieve their potential.
  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations where applicable.
  • Maintain a safe and effective workshop environment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Support students in developing practical, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, STEM projects, and enrichment opportunities.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and practical workshop experience.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
