Psychology Graduate – Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Derby, UK
Position: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: £89.38–£110 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-Term, with potential for permanent placement.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychology Graduates to join our dynamic team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supporting students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced educators and therapists to provide tailored support to students, fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. Your contributions will be instrumental in helping students achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, assisting in their academic and personal development.
- Collaborate with teachers and SEN specialists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
- Support students in developing social skills and emotional resilience through structured interventions.
- Assist in the creation and adaptation of learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN support.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who:
- Hold a degree in Psychology or a closely related field (2:1 or higher).
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEN.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exhibit patience, empathy, and adaptability in diverse situations.
- Have a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Previous experience in an educational or care setting is desirable but not essential.
