Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Solihull

Teaching Personnel are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Solihull.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties and social, emotional and behavioural needs. Some pupils may also require support with personal care, so candidates should be comfortable and willing to assist with this aspect of the role where required.

This position would be particularly well suited to a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children with additional needs and develop their understanding of child development, behaviour and SEN.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related subject
• An Enhanced DBS on the update service (willingness to apply for one)
• Uk license (desirable) 
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
• An interest in SEN, child development and behaviour
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Patience, empathy and a calm approach
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• A willingness to support pupils with personal care where required
• A proactive and positive attitude towards learning and development

Key Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting teaching staff with the delivery of lessons and learning activities
• Providing 1:1 support to pupils who require additional assistance
• Supporting pupils in small group activities and interventions
• Helping pupils to develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning
• Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development
• Monitoring pupils' progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Helping to create a safe, positive and supportive learning environment
• Supporting pupils with personal care where required
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs
