Primary Tutor / Intervention Teacher

A number of nurturing and inclusive Tameside schools are looking for a passionate Primary Tutor / Intervention Teacher to deliver high‑impact interventions across the primary phase. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing high‑quality small‑group and 1:1 interventions, boosting confidence, closing gaps and enabling children to reach their highest potential. The schools are looking for the right long‑term fit, with the intention to offer a permanent position.

Location: Tameside OL6
Job Type: Full‑time
Salary: £130–160 per day
Start date: September 2026

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver targeted intervention sessions across the primary phase in core subjects, including reading, writing and maths.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SLT to use assessment data to identify learning gaps and tailor support to pupils’ individual needs.
  • Maintain high expectations and standards, encouraging pupils to build confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Track and monitor progress, providing clear next steps and feedback to class teachers and SENCOs.
  • Support pupils with a range of abilities, including those needing catch‑up support, stretch and challenge, or additional SEN‑related intervention.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils engage, feel supported and achieve success.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and an inclusive learning environment at all times.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Is passionate about raising attainment and supporting children to make accelerated progress.
  • Has strong understanding of primary curriculum expectations and intervention strategies.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and behaviour‑support skills.
  • Holds a valid DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
