Primary Teaching Assistant – Full-Time
Location: Washington, Tyne and Wear
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £85 – £100 per day (depending on experience, paid weekly)
Contract: Full-time (Monday – Friday)
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and professional Primary Teaching Assistant to support a well-established primary school in Washington, Tyne and Wear. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking school community with a strong commitment to pupil wellbeing and academic progress.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality support to pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including small-group interventions and individual support where required. This role is suited to a candidate who demonstrates initiative, professionalism and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality support to pupils through small-group work and 1:1 sessions
- Assist in the delivery of planned learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher
- Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, nurturing learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team
- Assist with classroom preparation, resources and routine administrative tasks
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working within a primary school setting
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to use initiative and adapt support to individual pupil needs
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Availability for a long-term, full-time role with potential for permanency

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
