Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 (KS1) Primary Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Chester from September. This is a full-time, fixed-term role running until the February half-term, with a strong possibility of extension through to the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to KS1 pupils, fostering a positive classroom environment, and supporting pupils’ academic and personal development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and effective lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
  • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and higher-attaining learners
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider staff
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Contribute to the wider school community and extracurricular activities where appropriate
  • Uphold school policies, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour management standards

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1
  • Strong knowledge of the UK primary curriculum
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Passion for teaching and supporting young learners
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience teaching in Year 1 or Year 2
  • Experience supporting phonics development (e.g., Read Write Inc. or similar programme)
  • Strong understanding of formative assessment practices

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
