Primary Education Students & PGCE Students – Summer Term Teaching Opportunities (Newport & Gwent)
Are you a final-year Primary Education student or currently completing your PGCE and preparing for your first teaching role in September?
The summer term is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience, build confidence, and make a strong impression with local schools before permanent positions become available.
As one of the leading education supply agencies in Wales, Teaching Personnel is working with a wide range of primary schools across Newport and the wider Gwent area who are keen to welcome enthusiastic and motivated trainee teachers into their classrooms.
Many schools are happy for PGCE students in their final placement period to work as an Unqualified Teacher during the summer term. This gives you the chance to lead lessons, experience different school environments, and develop your classroom presence before stepping into your first permanent role.

What We’re Looking For
• Final year Primary Education students or PGCE students
• Confidence leading or supporting classes
• Passion for education and supporting young learners
• Strong classroom presence and communication skills
Essential Requirements
• References from your two PGCE placements
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – PGCE students will need to update their registration from Teaching Assistant to NQT during the summer term

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
