Primary SEMH Teacher – Manchester City Centre
Full-Time | September Start | via Teaching Personnel
Are you a passionate and resilient educator looking to make a meaningful impact? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Primary SEMH Teacher to work within a supportive specialist setting in the Manchester city centre area.
This role involves working with pupils who present a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, attachment difficulties, behavioural challenges, low self-esteem, trauma-related responses, and difficulties with emotional regulation. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment focused on building trust, confidence, and positive relationships.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to small class groups, helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop key life skills. You will play a crucial role in creating a safe and supportive space that promotes both academic and personal growth.
✅ Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons in line with the primary curriculum
- Support pupils in managing behaviour, emotions, and social interactions
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement
- Implement individual support strategies and behaviour plans
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback on pupil development
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth and resilience
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Proven experience working with SEMH pupils or challenging behaviour
- Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
