Primary School Teacher – Permanent Position

Location: Newport, South Wales

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 32.5 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting on behalf of a local primary school in the Newport area to support their appointment of a permanent Classroom Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and inspirational teacher to join a welcoming school community and make a positive impact on pupils’ learning and development.

The successful candidate will become part of a supportive team that is committed to providing high-quality teaching and learning opportunities for all pupils. The school has high expectations for both staff and pupils and is seeking a motivated practitioner who can contribute to continued progress and success.

The Role:

As a Classroom Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons, creating a positive learning environment, and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential. While the role may initially be based within Progression Step 1/2, applications are welcomed from teachers with experience and confidence across the 3–11 age range.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences for primary-aged pupils.
• Create an engaging, inclusive, and creative learning environment.
• Plan and deliver lessons that support the academic, social, and emotional development of all pupils.
• Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues, and the wider school community.
• Contribute to school improvement priorities and the continued development of teaching standards.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and a culture of high expectations.
• Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated teaching team.

• Is an enthusiastic and committed classroom practitioner.
• Has a passion for delivering inspiring and creative learning opportunities.
• Is reflective, flexible, and willing to contribute to continuous improvement.
• Can build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families, and the wider community.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is motivated to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Works effectively as part of a team and acts as a positive role model.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching within a primary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

Recruitment Process:

Teaching Personnel is supporting the school throughout the recruitment process to appoint a permanent member of staff. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with members of the school leadership team, which may include a lesson observation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
