Primary School Teacher – Key Stage 2 (KS2)

Location: Macclesfield, Cheshire
Start Date: September
Contract: Fixed-term – until February Half-Term
Hours: Full-time
Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (depending on experience)

Role Overview

A friendly and supportive primary school in Macclesfield is seeking an enthusiastic and committed KS2 Primary School Teacher to join their team from September until the February half-term.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a Key Stage 2 class, delivering engaging lessons that support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development, while maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and confidence.
  • Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support a safe and productive classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and senior leaders.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions and school activities when required.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and policies are followed at all times.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (ECTs welcome to apply).
  • Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Ability to plan differentiated lessons to meet a range of abilities.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A positive, flexible and professional approach to teaching.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering phonics (e.g. Read Write Inc, Little Wandle, or similar).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Familiarity with continuous provision or play‑based learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
