Position: Reception Teacher

Location: Central Stockport (SK1)

Salary: £130 – £190 per day

Contract Type: Short‑term, Full Time

We are seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Reception Teacher to join our friendly and well‑resourced partner primary school in central Stockport. This short‑term opportunity offers the chance to support children at the very start of their learning journey, within a school that truly values creativity, individuality and child‑centred practice.

As a Reception Teacher at Teaching Personnel, you’ll be joining a warm, supportive Early Years team that encourages you to bring your own ideas and teaching style. This is a wonderful opportunity to help young learners develop confidence, curiosity and key early skills through purposeful play and engaging, hands‑on experiences.

Whether you’re an ECT excited to build your experience, or an experienced EYFS practitioner looking for a rewarding new environment, this Reception Teacher role could be your next new start.

Reception Teacher – Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, play‑based learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Support early development in phonics, communication & language, early maths and personal, social and emotional growth.
  • Use formative assessment and observations to track children’s progress and plan for next steps.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EAL or SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, the SENCO and SLT to create a nurturing, consistent Early Years environment.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about progress, wellbeing and school life.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to children’s learning journeys.
  • Play an active role in the wider school community, attending staff meetings and supporting early years initiatives.

Reception Teacher – Key Requirements

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and early child development.
  • Creative, engaging and nurturing teaching strategies that support learning through play.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting every child to feel safe, valued and confident.
  • The ability to create a warm, stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and independence.
  • A reflective, professional practitioner who upholds the Teachers’ Standards.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
