Learning Support Assistant – Primary SEN School (Salford)

Full-Time | Teaching Personnel | Start ASAP

Do you have a passion for helping young learners thrive? Are you patient, energetic, and ready to make a real difference in a child’s day? We’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join a warm and welcoming Primary SEN School in the Salford area!

You’ll be supporting pupils with moderate SEN needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), sensory processing needs, developmental delays, and social communication challenges. If you love celebrating small wins and building children’s confidence—this role is for you!


What You’ll Be Doing

Every day is different, rewarding, and full of opportunities to support pupils in meaningful ways. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children 1:1 or in small groups with their learning and daily routines.
  • Assisting pupils in lessons, helping them stay focused, engaged, and motivated.
  • Implementing strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Preparing learning materials and adapting activities to suit individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils with sensory needs using visual aids, calming strategies, or movement breaks.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the SEN team to deliver personalised support.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating achievements—big or small!
  • Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.

  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children.
  • Willingness to support pupils with a range of moderate SEN needs.
  • Experience working with children and young people in SEN settings
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive, supportive attitude with a desire to help children succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
