Salary: £13.75 per hour to start
Join Our Primary ALN Provision Team
We are seeking a committed and resilient ALN Provision Support Assistant to work within our dedicated Primary ALN Provision in Llanelli. This role is ideal for someone who understands that every child learns differently and is passionate about providing consistent, nurturing, and structured support.
This is not a general classroom role — you will be based primarily within our specialist provision, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs.
What the Role Will Look Like
As an ALN Provision Support Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Supporting Complex Learning Needs
You will work with pupils who may present with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) – including sensory processing differences, communication challenges, and the need for structured routines
- ADHD – supporting attention regulation, impulse control, and emotional regulation
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) – delivering speech and language programmes provided by specialists
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs – supporting pupils who may struggle with anxiety, emotional regulation, or behaviour linked to trauma
- Global developmental delay or moderate learning difficulties
- Pupils with sensory sensitivities or attachment needs
Some pupils may have multiple or complex needs, requiring patience, adaptability, and consistency.
Delivering Personalised Learning
You will:
- Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions tailored to individual targets
- Support pupils to access adapted curriculum materials
- Use visual timetables, sensory strategies, and structured work systems
- Reinforce communication approaches such as PECS, visual supports, or simplified language
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the ALNCo and teaching staff
Supporting Emotional Regulation & Wellbeing
A key part of the role involves:
- Helping pupils recognise and manage emotions
- Using de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour support approaches
- Supporting safe sensory breaks and regulation activities
- Building trusting, consistent relationships
You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
Working as Part of a Team
You will collaborate closely with:
- The ALNCo
- Class teachers
- Specialist advisory teachers
- Speech and language therapists
- Educational psychologists
- Parents and carers
Clear communication and professionalism are essential.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children with ALN in a school or care setting
- Is calm under pressure and emotionally resilient
- Understands behaviour as communication
- Is proactive, observant, and reflective
- Can maintain professional boundaries while building positive relationships
- Holds (or is working towards) a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
Team Teach or positive behaviour support training would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
