Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and resilient Teaching Assistants to work on a flexible supply basis within a specialist educational setting supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and a range of complex needs.

About the Setting

This specialist school provides a nurturing, inclusive, and highly personalised learning environment for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), severe learning difficulties, autism, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs.

Pupils follow tailored learning programmes focused on developing communication, independence, life skills, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing. Staff work closely with families, therapists, and other professionals to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Assist with personalised learning and sensory activities.
• Encourage communication, engagement, and independence.
• Support pupils with physical, medical, and personal care needs where required.
• Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
• Support pupils' emotional, social, and educational development.

⭐ What We're Looking For

We are seeking caring, adaptable, and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to supporting pupils with complex learning and physical needs.

The following experience and qualifications are desirable:

✅ Experience supporting children or adults with PMLD, SLD, ASD, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or complex medical needs

✅ Previous experience within education, care, healthcare, residential care, childcare, youth work, or support work settings

✅ Experience providing personal care, promoting independence, and supporting communication needs

✅ Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

✅ CACHE Level 2/3 Diploma, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or equivalent qualification

✅ Degree in Education, Psychology, Childhood Studies, Health & Social Care, or a related field

✅ Training in Autism Awareness, Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support, Makaton, Manual Handling, or Moving & Handling

✅ Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, or in a similar role

To work through Teaching Personnel, applicants must:

• Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
• Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or be willing to register.
• Be able to provide professional references covering the past two years.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
