Are you currently completing your PGCE and looking to gain valuable classroom experience before receiving your QTS? Teaching Personnel are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated PGCE students to work as Secondary Supply Teachers across Newport, Cwmbran, and Pontypool during the summer term.
This is the perfect opportunity to build confidence in the classroom, develop your teaching skills, and establish strong relationships with local secondary schools before September.
Successful candidates will deliver engaging lessons, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and support pupils in achieving their full potential while covering lessons in the absence of the regular teacher.

September Teaching Opportunities Available

Many of our partner schools recruit directly through us, meaning PGCE students who perform well during the summer term may be considered for full-time teaching positions from September 2026 once QTS has been achieved.
This makes the role an excellent pathway into your first ECT teaching position.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across secondary subjects
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Support student progress and engagement in learning
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Adapt quickly to different school environments
- Prepare and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum when required
Requirements
- Currently completing a PGCE course
- Passion for secondary education and student development
- Strong classroom management skills
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
