Pastoral Lead Officer – Taunton
Teaching Personnel are looking for an experienced and dedicated Pastoral Lead Officer to join a local secondary school in Taunton.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people’s wellbeing, personal development and academic progress. Working closely with the Head of Year and wider pastoral team, you will play a key role in creating a positive school culture where students feel safe, supported and able to thrive.
The Role
As a Pastoral Lead Officer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pastoral care and supporting students across the year group. You will help promote positive behaviour, attendance, inclusion and personal development, while building strong and trusting relationships with students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality pastoral support to students, promoting their wellbeing and personal development.
- Work closely with the Head of Year to support students to achieve their academic and personal potential.
- Develop positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent source of support.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where students feel valued and respected.
- Support students with behavioural, emotional and social needs.
- Promote high expectations of behaviour, attendance and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external professionals where appropriate.
- Promote and model the school's values, including aspiration, confidence, kindness, responsibility, respect and resilience.
- Contribute to a strong sense of identity, inclusion and belonging within the year group.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working with young people in a school or pastoral setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students from a range of backgrounds.
- A calm, supportive and consistent approach to behaviour management.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- The confidence to work alongside teachers and wider school staff.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
