Part-Time Teaching Assistant – SEN/SEMH Schools (WN8 Area)

Location: WN8 and surrounding areas
Position Type: Part-Time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAP / Flexible

 About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils across a range of SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) schools in the WN8 area.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will work across different settings, supporting students with additional needs to help them access education, develop social skills, and reach their full potential.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN/SEMH needs
  • Assist the class teacher with delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social challenges
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and external professionals
  • Adapt to working in different school settings as required

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (school-based or similar)
  • Understanding of SEN and/or SEMH needs (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Flexibility to work across multiple schools in the WN8 area
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
  • Experience with autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
