A welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Cardiff is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join its successful Languages department on a maternity cover contract for the full academic year, starting on 7th September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through engaging language learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver high-quality lessons, foster confidence in communication skills, and motivate students of all abilities to achieve their full potential.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging and effective MFL lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Teach French, Spanish, or another relevant language (depending on specialism)

  • Plan, prepare, and assess student work in line with curriculum expectations

  • Monitor and support student progress and attainment

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

  • Maintain high standards of classroom management and behaviour

  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and wider school activities

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching MFL within a secondary school setting

  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for language learning

  • Ability to inspire and engage learners of varying abilities

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to promoting cultural awareness and student achievement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
