Mandarin Speaking Teaching Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Mandarin Teaching Assistant to support the delivery of Mandarin Chinese at GCSE and A Level. The role involves working closely with subject teachers to support students’ language development, exam preparation, and confidence in spoken and written Mandarin.
Key Responsibilities

Support Mandarin teachers in delivering GCSE and A Level lessons
-
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing)
-
Support students with exam preparation, including speaking assessments and written work
-
Assist with pronunciation, tone accuracy, grammar, and character recognition/writing
-
Help prepare and adapt teaching materials and resources
-
Provide conversational practice and targeted language support
-
Support classroom organisation and student engagement
-
Assist with assessment preparation and revision sessions
-
Promote high standards of learning and positive student behaviour
Essential Requirements
-
Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese
-
Strong proficiency in English
-
Experience working with secondary-age students (preferred)
-
Strong communication skills and a supportive, encouraging approach

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
-
Degree in Mandarin, Chinese studies, linguistics, or a related field
-
Experience in a school or educational setting
-
Familiarity with UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.)
-
Experience supporting speaking exams or oral assessments

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
