Job description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This role will focus on delivering targeted academic interventions across Maths, English and Phonics during the morning, alongside leading social and emotional interventions in the afternoon to support pupils’ wellbeing and development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant (Interventions & SEMH Support)

Location: Burnley
Hours: Full-time (8.30am – 3.30pm)
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Start Date: Monday 1st June 2026

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions in Maths, English and Phonics, following guidance from class teachers and senior leaders
  • Support pupils to close gaps in learning through structured, evidence-based intervention programmes
  • Plan and deliver social and emotional / SEMH interventions in the afternoon, tailored to pupils’ individual needs
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence-building and positive relationships
  • Track progress and contribute to assessment and review meetings
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO and pastoral staff
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Uphold behaviour policies and safeguarding procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering interventions in Maths, English and/or Phonics
  • A good understanding of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ wellbeing
