Job description

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist educational setting. This provision supports children and young people with additional needs, including autism and associated communication or sensory needs.

This is a highly rewarding role where you will play a key part in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to engage with learning and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher with the delivery of tailored learning activities
  • Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour
  • Encourage independence and confidence within a structured environment
  • Help implement individual education and support plans
  • Liaise with teachers, therapists, and wider staff to ensure consistent support

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly autism (desirable)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
  • Resilience and a proactive attitude
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, care, or support work (preferred but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
