Are you an experienced, caring, and resilient individual with a passion for supporting children and young people with complex special educational needs? One of our specialist partner schools in the Middlesbrough area is seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their highly supportive and nurturing team.
This setting supports pupils with a wide range of needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism, and associated medical or physical needs.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs
• Assist students with daily routines, including personal care where required
• Support communication through alternative methods such as PECS, Makaton, or visual aids
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver personalised learning
• Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, social development, and independence
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who:
• Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly complex needs
• Are comfortable supporting personal care
• Are patient, compassionate, and resilient in their approach
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Have a proactive and positive attitude towards supporting learning and development
Relevant Backgrounds May Include:
• SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant roles
• Care or support work (including residential or support worker roles)
• Health and Social Care
• Youth work or mentoring
• Graduates with a strong interest in SEN or education

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, with the possibility of a permanent role in the future.
