Bridgend | 08:30 – 15:30 | Monday–Friday NO WEEKENDS!

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a specialist educational setting in Bridgend. The school currently supports learners from the ages of 3-19, so oppourtunites are available across primary and secondary age groups - being flexible is key!
About the Role
As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access education and manage social and emotional challenges.
Pupils may present with:
- SEMH needs
- Challenging behaviour
- Attachment and trauma-related difficulties
- Autism and ADHD
- Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
- Reduced engagement with education
Your role will focus on building trust, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils achieve both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group intervention support
- Support pupils both within and outside of the classroom
- De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies
- Encourage participation, confidence, and independence
- Establish professional and supportive relationships with pupils
- Support emotional wellbeing and personal development
- Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
- Maintain clear and accurate records where required
- Act as a positive role model throughout the school day ⭐
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults
- A calm, patient, and resilient personality
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of SEMH, behaviour, or trauma-informed approaches (desirable)
- Ability to adapt to different situations and pupils' needs
- Genuine passion for helping young people succeed
