Job description

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and nurturing school community in Bournemouth.

This rewarding role involves supporting children with additional learning needs, helping them to access education, develop confidence and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom.

The successful candidate will be patient, resilient and passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils age 5-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Help pupils develop social, emotional and independent living skills
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes and educational visits
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has eperience working with children with special educational needs, including autism, social communication difficulties or SEMH needs
  • Builds strong and trusting relationships with young people
  • Is calm, adaptable and able to use initiative
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Is available full time

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
