Learning Support Assistant – SEMH Provision
Location: Blackburn
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Full-Time
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Contract: Long-term with potential temp-to-perm opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work within a Primary and Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Blackburn. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning and need consistent, positive role models to help them succeed.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering tailored learning activities

  • Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Encouraging engagement, emotional regulation, and positive learning behaviours

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school, care, youth work, or similar settings)

  • Resilience and confidence in managing challenging behaviours

  • A calm, consistent and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
