Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) – Permanent Role – Andover

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist school in Andover on a permanent basis

Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour
Location: Andover
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 4–11 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You will play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, regulate emotions, engage in learning, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils aged 4–11 with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
  • Assist in delivering engaging learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour management and intervention strategies.
  • Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has previous experience working with children with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Is calm, patient and resilient when managing complex behaviours.
  • Possesses excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
  • Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
