Are you an experienced educator with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are seeking dedicated KS3 and KS4 Tutors to work within SEMH schools across the Greater Manchester area, supporting students who may present with needs such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, ADHD, emotional regulation challenges, low self-esteem, school avoidance and behavioural difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people who require additional support to achieve their educational potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality KS3 and KS4 lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum.
• Differentiate learning materials to meet individual student needs and abilities.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students who may have experienced barriers to education.
• Support students in developing confidence, resilience and emotional regulation skills.
• Manage behaviour positively and effectively using trauma-informed approaches.
• Monitor, assess and record student progress.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, pastoral teams and other professionals.
• Provide regular feedback on student attainment, engagement and wellbeing.
• Encourage participation, attendance and engagement in learning.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with SEMH students is essential.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the UK education curriculum, particularly KS3 and KS4.
• Experience delivering lessons, tutoring or supporting students in an educational setting.
• Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning and emotional needs.
• Patient, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working within SEMH schools, alternative provisions or specialist education settings.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable but not essential due to travel requirements across Bolton, Wigan and Warrington.
• Additional SEN training or qualifications would be advantageous.
