Teaching Personnel – KS1 Teacher (Maternity Cover) – September Start

Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and enthusiastic KS1 Teacher to join a welcoming two-form entry primary school in the OL12 area (Rochdale). This is a maternity cover role starting in September, continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for extension if all goes well.

Location & Transport Links:
The school is located in OL12, with excellent access to local bus routes and road networks. It is easily commutable from Rochdale town centre, Whitworth, Littleborough, and Bacup, making it accessible for candidates across the surrounding areas.

Role Overview:
You will be teaching within Key Stage 1 (KS1), supported by a dedicated Teaching Assistant. The role involves full classroom responsibilities, including daily lesson planning, delivering engaging lessons, and supporting pupil progress using established long-term plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across KS1
  • Plan and prepare daily lessons using long-term overviews
  • Teach phonics (essential) – the school uses Read Write Inc, though experience with any phonics scheme is acceptable
  • Assess, track, and support pupil progress
  • Work collaboratively with staff and support your TA effectively
  • Contribute to the wider school community

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)ECTs and fully qualified teachers welcome to apply
  • Essential: Experience teaching in KS1
  • Essential: Experience teaching phonics
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons independently
  • For Upper Pay Scale teachers, there may be an expectation to take on a subject lead responsibility

Pay & Benefits:

  • £120 – £190 per day (dependent on experience)
  • AWR (Agency Worker Regulations) addressed
  • Full-time role (5 days per week)
