Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Gateshead for a maternity cover role starting in September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive school environment, delivering high-quality teaching to a mixed Year 1/2 class, supported by an experienced Teaching Assistant. The school warmly welcomes applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and is committed to providing a nurturing and supportive start to your teaching career.

Position: Primary Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Gateshead
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Full academic year (2026/2027)
Year Group: Mixed Year 1/2
Support: Full-time Teaching Assistant in class
Salary: Paid to scale (in line with experience)

About the Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners within a mixed Key Stage 1 class. The school prides itself on a nurturing environment and strong teamwork, ensuring both staff and pupils thrive.

There will be opportunities between now and the end of the summer term to attend transition and handover days, allowing you to build relationships with pupils and staff ahead of your September start.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an Early Career Teacher (ECT)
Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and/or Year 2 preferred, but not essential for ECTs)
Be confident in managing or developing skills to manage a mixed-age class
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
Be committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment
Work effectively as part of a team alongside support staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
