Length of Role: Maternity Cover – October Half Term until End of Academic Year

KS1 Class Teacher Job – Darwen

We are recruiting for an inspiring KS1 Class Teacher to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Darwen on a maternity cover contract running from October half term through to the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, supporting pupil progress, and creating a stimulating classroom environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver creative and effective lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture that supports learning and wellbeing.
  • Assess and monitor pupil attainment and progress.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and wider school staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and carers.
  • Support school policies and safeguarding procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching in a primary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
