Intervention Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Intervention Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive primary school team at our primary school.
This rewarding role focuses on delivering targeted interventions to support pupils who need additional help in areas such as phonics, reading, writing and maths. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to help pupils close learning gaps and reach their full potential.
Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026 or ASAP
Contract: Full-time – 8.30am – 3.30pm
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured intervention sessions on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Support pupils with targeted learning needs, including SEND and low attainment
- Assist in planning and adapting intervention activities
- Monitor, track and report on pupil progress
- Support classroom learning where required
- Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children in a primary school setting
- Has strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Is confident delivering small group interventions
- Is patient, encouraging and adaptable
- Has a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team
- Experience of phonics programmes or SEND support is highly desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
