Location: East London – Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Waltham Forest
Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Temp-to-Perm

Teaching Personnel are recruiting Intervention Mentors to work across schools in East London, supporting pupils who require additional academic and emotional support to reach their full potential.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to build experience in education, particularly those interested in teaching, educational psychology or pastoral roles.

Who We’re Looking For

We want candidates who can support both learning and behaviour, including:

  • Experienced Intervention Mentors / Teaching Assistants
  • SEMH or Behaviour TAs from PRUs and ARPs
  • Psychology Graduates (ideal for experience before further study)
  • Youth Workers skilled in engagement and mentoring
  • Sports Coaches with strong discipline and motivation techniques

Your Role Will Include:

  • Delivering targeted interventions in English, Maths or core subjects
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Helping close attainment gaps and boost confidence
  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and barriers to learning

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people (school-based or transferable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage, motivate and build trust with pupils
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
