History Teacher
Job description
Job Purpose
To deliver engaging and rigorous History teaching that develops students’ understanding of the past, critical thinking skills, and ability to analyse evidence and interpretations.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
-
Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and exam specifications.

Develop students’ enquiry, evaluation, and extended writing skills.

Use a range of sources, interpretations, and teaching strategies to bring historical topics to life.

Promote debate, discussion, and independent thinking in the classroom.
Assessment and Progress
-
Assess student work accurately and provide meaningful feedback.

Track progress and implement interventions to support all learners.

Prepare students for GCSE and A Level examinations and coursework requirements.
Curriculum and Enrichment
-
Contribute to curriculum development and review of schemes of work.

Support enrichment activities such as educational visits, workshops, and themed events.

Promote inclusive teaching and diverse historical perspectives.
Professional Responsibilities
-
Engage in professional development and reflective practice.
-
Support whole-school initiatives and pastoral systems.
-
Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
