An Ofsted-rated GOOD primary school in the heart of Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their permanent staff team from January 2025 or sooner. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA or a passionate Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in their career, working within a supportive and dynamic school community.
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with class teachers to deliver planned lessons, provide targeted interventions for pupils, and cover classes during teacher absence. The ideal candidate will be committed to nurturing the academic and personal growth of children while contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across the school, either in partnership with the teacher or independently.
- Plan, prepare, and assess learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
- Support and lead small groups or one-to-one interventions, targeting specific learning needs.
- Cover whole classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Provide pastoral care and support, helping to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
Requirements:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent (Level 4 or above).
- Proven experience working in a primary school setting.
- Experience leading whole-class teaching and delivering lessons in a supportive role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- A good understanding of the primary curriculum and child development.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Experience with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies.
- First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
