Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Primary and SEN Schools – East London
Contract: Permanent / Fixed Term / Term-Time Only (flexible options available)
Salary: Competitive London Support Staff Scale (dependent on experience)

Are you a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for an exciting opportunity in East London?

We are working with a range of welcoming and inclusive Primary and SEN schools who are seeking skilled HLTAs to join their teams and support high-quality teaching and learning.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning and development across the school. Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering planned learning activities and interventions to individuals, small groups and, where appropriate, whole classes under the direction of the class teacher
  • Supporting pupils with a range of needs, including SEN, to access the curriculum and achieve their potential
  • Assisting with lesson planning, preparation of resources and assessment of pupil progress
  • Promoting positive behaviour and inclusion within the classroom and wider school environment
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, parents/carers and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Holds HLTA status, a relevant Level 3 qualification or has equivalent experience
  • Has previous experience working in a Primary and/or SEN setting
  • Is confident supporting learning across the curriculum
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is proactive, adaptable and committed to supporting pupil wellbeing and achievement
  • Has a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
